Celebrations in Church
By Rev. Anacleto G. Guerrero
FPUMC Administrative Pastor
It is not unusual that in a congregation, events are celebrated with thanksgiving and fellowship in the church grounds. Fairview Park UMC had this opportunity in two occasions, namely:
1. Golden Birthday Anniversary. Last April 26, a Wednesday, during the regular midweek service at 8:00 o'clock p.m., the 50th birthday of Engr. Carlos Ramota (Mechanical Engineer) was incorporated in the service. The liturgist was the oldest son, Marc, who teaches at UP Manila. The family, led by the wife, Marlee, sang a hymn in thanksgiving to the Lord. A catered dinner was served after the service where a bit of a program, family style, was done. It was held at the grounds, just in front of the church. The administrative pastor was the preacher.
2. Silver Wedding Anniversary. On the 29th day of April, Mr. Arnulfo (a.k.a. Arnold, a CPA with the B.I.R.) and Milagros (a.k.a. Mila, a business woman) Galapia renewed marriage vows with all the trimmings of a wedding ceremony -- ring, arrhae, Bible, veil, cord, unity candle, and kissing of the bride. It was held in the church sanctuary. For almost two days a team of men and women got the FPUMC garden beautified. It was spic and span, with "clothed" chairs and a presidential table under a newly constructed, P26,000.00 worth of covered tent. It was held at 4:00 p.m. with Revs. Anacleto G. Guerrero and Glicerio Ferrer as solemnizing officers. Rev. Guerrero delivered the wedding message. Singers: Mr. & Dr. Ian/Jeannette SD Vidal, and Mr. Dantes Abenojar.Mr. Romeo Matulac was the pianist.
.....The Principal Sponsors: Engr. & Dr. Priscilliano/Cresencia Alapan; Dr. & Mrs. Roberto/Ruth Amador; Mrs. Victoria B. de la Cruz; Mrs. Felicidad Escudero; Dr. & Mrs. Demetrio/Raymar Famorca; Engr.& Mrs. Fernando/Mila de Guzman; Rear Admiral & Mrs. Serapio/Edith Martillano; and Rev. & Mrs. Anacleto/Clarita Guerrero. "Each hour, each day, each yearThe ceremonies were done smoothly until the pronouncement, kissing of the bride, and picture taking at the altar. Then it rained hard. Everything in the beautiful garden dripped with blessings from the clouds. The food were brought in to the church. Well-wishes, congratulations and eating were done in the church with last-hour arrangement of tables, pews, chairs. The rains did not stop the last chapter of the celebration -- reception. Everything was done spontaneously with the leading of two church ladies -- Mrs. Marlee L. Ramota and Engr. Pearl SP Flores -- as emcees.
We grow as two, yet as one
We grow apart, yet together
Forming an eternal love.
25 years of love and joy
25 years of sharing
25 years of tears and laughter
25 years of caring.
Our memories will give us pleasure
Remembering good friends and relatives
Will be our special treasure."
